Handmade Arcade returns to the West Quarter!

The superhero of Exeter's Indie Art fairs returns this Saturday 2nd March to the cavern that is McCoy's Arcade! Join us to see what local makers have been making, listen to some fine tunes from some locally found musicians and explore the wonders of Fore Street and the streets beyond.

Whilst wondering what the Handmade Arcade community have been up to - we received this fascinating email from Devon based Barry John - you can wonder through his mind here

"I've been working on my Dogū for a while and am pleased to say they are now ready. Mine is from the Ebisuda area of Japan. Dated to the Jomon period 14,000-400 BC the
Dogū have bewildered archaeologists for years until the great Erich von Daniken blew the lid on the contact between early man and ancient astronauts.

Mine was sculpt in clay and cast in high quality herculite plaster. Each is hand painted in a variety of colours for a natural stone finish.

My other new discovery I can't really take credit for. On a lovely Valentines walk along the Jurassic coast with my lady we stumbled across a fossilised Fairy. We were amazed! It was in pretty rough condition but after some cleaning up I decided to share the find by creating a mould and offering it up to the good folk of Devon.

Of course I still have plenty of dia de los muertos style skulls, necromancer dip pens and framed dessicated fairys. I might even bring along a few original sculpture if I can squeeze them in.

I hope you like the pic's and new work. Really looking forward to catching up with everyone."

You can catch Barry and his interesting discovery's at McCoys Arcade this Saturday from 10-5pm as well as a host of other Indie Artists live music and great locally sourced food from McCoys Cafe!

See you there - Stay warm,

Handmade Arcade is back - 2nd March!!!! Call out for artists!

For those of you who showed up at McCoys Arcade last week to catch a snippet Exeter's indie Art culture and listen to some tunes - we're both sorry and thankful that you did!

Handmade Arcade has been on a little holiday - with all the amazing fairs we ran in December we thought wed take some time off to gain some momentum and reflect on a great year past! But now the wonderful fair that is Handmade Arcade is returning - back for good, in the heart of McCoys Arcade! The under cover art market will return! YAY!

So thanks to those of you who popped your heads in last weekend - it got us excited to think about Handmade Arcade's merry return to the West Quarter!

And so it's on people - Saturday 2nd March - pop it in your diaries and spread the word - this D.I.Y art fair is back! 10am to 5pm in McCoys Arcade - with arts and made things of wonder from a whole host of great local makers, friends and comrades in the quest to spread the word of local artists!

If you're a maker of indie arts - it could be that you just love sticking things together, making things from bits n pieces you find - you could be a small press maker or like painting twigs! Whatever it may be, send us an email and get in touch - we'd love to hear from you! :) Take a peek at our blog and the guidelines for makers for more information about the kind of things we will select!

WE'll also have heaps of new things in the NGNG shop! Including some exciting new tees from the brilliant Dan Bowden and the mighty Joel Millerchip -YES.

Happy Making!

See you on the 2nd March for cake, music and makeryness!
