We've been busy bees, the seasonal change has been much reflected in plans and making for the new shop as well as sourcing designing and making furnishings from wooden pallets and found materials, all will be revealed at the launch Saturday 7th April!
Heres a sneak preview of some of the handmade creations you can expect to find at the First Ever Handmade Arcade, from our selection of talented local folk!
Abigail McKenzie and Diane Foster are the creative Devon based duo behind the Marmalade Collective, whose wonderfully vintage and burlesque inspired images adorn mirrors, badges and cards!
We recently had the pleasure of meeting Lize Meddings, Laura Jayne Weeks and the gang at the Illustration Stuff Fair in Plymouth. A marvelous bunch of illustrators from just down the road making a wonderful range of illustrated and hand-painted zines, comics, prints, badges and foxy resin figures!
The Preservation Society transform one mans rubbish into another mans treasure, creating one of a kind upcycled jewellery, feathered head-dresses and clothing you will never want to throw away. They're also rumoured to be holding a workshop on the day, feathers at the ready!
Admist the rolling hills of Devon, Lucky Lulu makes awesome felt brooches inspired by old-school tattoo flash, the mexican day of the dead and forest dwelling creatures that make us feel like it's Spring
Mick and Emma are a creative duo based in Barnstaple. They'll be joining us with an eclectic mix of Emma's hand stitched delights including up-cycled sewing kits and boxes. Mick will be bringing amongst other things a range of screenprinted animal illustrations on recycled paper made from various animal poo!
Also joining us for tea and cake and a sharing of creations on the day are some familiar faces from Exeter's best loved independant spots, including The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter Phoenix,The Picture House,The Plant Cafe and The Flying Post - a true celebration of Exeter's creative spirit!
Representing McCoys Cafe will be the curly haired bonce of Ollie Morrison, barista by day, serial crochet and knitting demon by night! He's bringing his mum and her amazing colourful knitwear :)
Bunyip Beads and Buttons will be showing off their shiny new workshop space with screen printing and their ever popular drop-in make and take sessions! We will be updating you with other sessions going on in the 'hood in due course!
Local guitar weilding musicians Simon and Rhys, Sunday Skyclub and the awesome Some Sort Of Threat will be livening up the arcade, come shake a leg or two!
McCoys Cafe will be serving their delicious home cooked food, cakes and refreshments on the day :)
